So I got a called Wednesday to play the National Anthem at the Portland Trailblazers game on Saturday February 4, 2012. It is one of the simplest songs to play…not that difficult, not a lot of changes nor very high for trumpeters “if done in Bb Concert”. It has always been that one song that gives me the jitters even thou I have played it many times over.

Now its great that I don’t have to sing any words but is the lyrics really that hard to remember? Is it kind of tricky and the pitches hard to reach? We have seen many great singers, musicians, athletes and actors fail so miserably at singer the National Anthem.
